DRAKE IS HAVING A BREAKDOWN GUYS

  • Men: If Orange is the New Black is so good with representation, why are all the men horrible?
  • Women: They're not all horrible. Bennett's nice. What more do you want?
  • Men: But he's clueless and irresponsible! And that's just ONE guy! How can you give me ONE decent male character in a slew of diverse female characters and call THAT representation?

RAR: How difficult has it been for you to reconcile the visual constraints of the television medium and the descriptive book elements? For instance how hideous Tyrion is supposed to be doesn’t really come across in the show and (not to spoil, but) what we’re expecting from other characters and what happens to them…?

GRRM: You know, I worked in Hollywood for 10 years; I was there from basically the mid-’80s to the mid-’90s working on a variety of television shows. So, I saw the process from the other side, which has given me enough perspective. I mean, you can describe a character in the book, but you’re never gonna get an actor who exactly meets the physical dimensions of the character. I know some of the fans go crazy about this. “Ooooh that character had red hair in the book and they cast someone with blond hair.” But, for the most part, that stuff is trivial.

In the case of Tyrion, yeah Tyrion in the books is shorter than Peter Dinklage is and he’s considerably less attractive. Peter is actually quite a good looking guy. But Peter Dinklage is a sensational actor and brought Tyrion to life vividly. That’s what you want. You’re not trying to match an author’s imaginary description of a person who never existed; you’re trying to bring a character to life by casting the best possible actor you can in the role.

Mend

acepalindrome:

(First time writing Sansa and Sandor. First time writing for ASoIaF at all, actually. Warning for a little blood and medical procedures and Sandor’s foul mouth. Vague post-Blackwater AU-ish thing.)

'It's just like needlework,' Sansa told herself desperately. 'It's like sewing, like mending a tear.'

"You may want to bite down on a piece of leather, if you have it," she said aloud, and her voice was no more steady than her hands. "This will hurt."

Sandor Clegane just snorted at that, but his wounded arm twitched from its place over her knees. “Piss on that. I’ve had much worse than this. Get on with your sewing, girl, or leave me in peace. It’ll mend fine on its own.”

"It needs to be sewn up," Sansa said, as firmly as she could manage. For all his talk, she could see that the gash across his forearm was no minor scrap. The blood had gushed out frighteningly fast when the bandit’s blade had hit its mark, and the wound continued to leak even after the man was dead on the ground and the Hound had tied a tourniquet. She had insisted he let her take a look at it, and spied the gleam of exposed bone. It had to be dealt with, and with no one else around for miles the task fell to Sansa, with the needles and thread she had brought along in case of torn clothes.

Electric Fields Made Visible

Physics educator James Lincoln helps people understand the natural world. The gifs above are from a Youtube video he made on how to “see” an electric field, the region around a charged object where electric force is experienced. When the object is positively charged, electric field lines extend radially outward from the object. When the object is negatively charged, the lines extend radially inward.

#OfficerGoFuckYourself Threatens to Kill Ferguson Livestreamers

The scene was witnessed by Infowars reporter Joe Biggs who was also filming the incident. The clip shows a Ferguson officer with his gun raised pointing it directly at a citizen journalist who was live streaming at the time.

“Oh my God, gun raised, gun raised,” states the journalist, before Biggs remarks, “gun pointed.”

“My hands are up bro, my hands are up,” states the journalist before the cop responds, “I’m going to f***ing kill you, get back, get back!”

“You’re going to kill him?” asks another individual before the journalist asks, “did he just threaten to kill me?”

When the cop is asked for his name he responds, “go fuck yourself.”
